Are trolleybuses ever to return?

The article about trams and trolleybuses in Buses September was very informative and it took me back to my earliest days of public transport enthusiasm.

The disappearance of street electric traction in Britain, totally at odds with practice in many other countries, is hard to fathom but it is heartening that trams have made a comeback, even if systems like Manchester owe much to heavy rail technology. It was amusing to watch the first new systems fall over themselves to avoid the word "tram" in their publicity. The public had other ideas and nobody in Manchester talks about "catching a Metrolink light rail vehicle" to ride to the shops!
