It looks like traditional Routemasters, and not just the former mayor’s New variety, may be out of fashion in London since Sadiq Khan took over at City Hall.

Chris Drew spotted these impressive suitcases for sale in a luggage store in Wimbledon, knocked down to 26% of the original asking price. The actual cases are a lot closer to the original Routemaster than the curious drawing — right-hand-drive, right-hand staircase and panoramic windows — on the price and specification label.

They come with a built-in RML capability — indeed something nearer that of the ERM open-top sightseeing bus conversions — of expanding by 25% of the original length to increase their capacity. As Chris observes, the white one leaves scope for adding Stagecoach stripes or else resembles unpainted RM664 when it was new.
