Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are deeply integrated into their communities with many operating as family businesses for generations. This local touch and local knowledge means that SMEs can be strong partners in enhancing bus services across the country.

Engaging with central and local government

ALBUM members come from small, family-owned companies, from the local authority operators and from the smaller groups. We work with the Department for Transport (DfT) and with the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) to help develop policies and strategies for the communities we serve. Although buses are local in nature, the policy framework that central government sets – along with the funding that has supported buses in the recovery from the Covid times – are the foundations on which networks rely.
